Holyrood wraps up Pelamis deal

19 January 2015

The Scottish government has bought the intellectual property and a “range of” physical assets from failed wave device developer Pelamis Wave Power. Holyrood reached an agreement with administrators KPMG for development agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise to buy the assets on behalf of Wave Energy Scotland, the new body set up to commercialise the technology in the country. HiE said: “The deal means that valuable intellectual property which could otherwise have been lost to international competitors in the wave energy market will now be available to support the growth and development of wave energy in Scotland.”
